Juliet is a bored, timid, frumpy and unfulfilled housewife who suspects her husband is being unfaithful. To escape the reality of her situation, she enters into a surreal fantasy world of her own by conjuring up spirits who lead her into a world of sensual pleasure. In his first colour feature film Fellini creates images that are both dazzling and hypnotic in their effect.
